Experimental Farm
ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal earlier known as Directorate of Wheat Research was shifted from New Delhi to Karnal in 1990. Approximately 65 acres land was allotted to this institute at that time and out of this 46.61 acres area is under research activity and rest is occupied with official and residential buildings, guest house, lawns, polyhouses, road etc. Additional land of 47.97 acres located at across the main highway was also transferred from ICAR-NDRI, Karnal to this institute (called as New Farm) and out of which 44.86 acres is under research activities as well as for seed production. There are five tube wells, six tractors, all the mechanized machineries for seeding and all the implements to carry out necessary farm operations. The farm section has following objectives:
- Allotment of land to sections
- Preparation of land for cultivation of crops
- To provide irrigation to the fields by Tubewell
- Weed control of the farm
- Supply of diesel to vehicles of institute
- Ensure supply of contractual labours to different sections
- Repair and maintenance to agricultural machinery
